Former Sunderland winger Chris Waddle reckons his old rivals Sunderland don’t look out of place in the Premier League.

The ex-England winger also believes the Black Cats have no reason to fear anyone after their excellent start to life in the Premier League.

Speaking to Boyle Sports, who offer football betting, Waddle said: ““Let’s be honest, a lot of the players Sunderland signed were unknown, apart from Granit Xhaka.

“Xhaka has been unbelievable. He’s a different player from what people remember at Arsenal. Leverkusen gave him the freedom to play, get on the ball, and he’s continued that at Sunderland.

"When you have experienced players on the pitch, you can guide younger players.

“They have the tempo, they’ve hit the ground running, and they don’t look out of place. I watched them against Man United where they lost, but they played OK and gave Man United a good game.”

He added: “The Stadium of Light will be a fortress for them because of the atmosphere. It’s difficult to play there....
