Gary Neville has always been critical of Liverpool ever since leaving Manchester United.

Since then, the Red Devils legend has taken every jab he possibly can at the Anfield outfit, with Jamie Carragher often the one on the other side of the conversation.

However, after Liverpool won the Premier League title last season, it wasn’t Carragher who made the former England right-back change his mind about Manchester United’s recent struggles.

Instead, it was the fact that Arne Slot managed to skip the transition phase at Liverpool entirely, whereas Manchester United still seem to find themselves transitioning, even though Sir Alex Ferguson retired years ago.

When Jurgen Klopp exited Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season, nobody expected the Anfield outfit to be as dominant as they were last term.

However, Slot defied the odds as he came in and managed to bring the title to Merseyside at the first time of asking.

Of course, Mohamed Salah’s incredible individual performances across the term will have helped him along the way, but in reality, he just inherited Klopp’s team and ran with it.
