Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is reportedly considering recalling Manuel Ugarte to the starting lineup for his side’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday. That is despite the Uruguayan losing every single game he has started this season, having lost his place to Casemiro in recent months.

Amorim has largely preferred Casemiro alongside captain Bruno Fernandes in the middle of the pitch this season, with Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo left to warm the substitutes’ bench. But that may change when the Red Devils travel to Anfield to take on the reigning Premier League champions.

Both Casemiro and Fernandes were absent from team training on Thursday, as they returned from international duty. Amad and Matheus Cunha were also given extra time off, though they were at Carrington undergoing an individual regime.

Ugarte was with the senior group, however, and The Sun claim that he is under consideration for a surprise start against Liverpool as a result.
