The former Liverpool player Martin Kelly has called time on his footballing career following multiple injuries.

The 35-year-old started his career at the club when he joined the academy at the age of eight, and he made 62 appearances for the Merseyside giants as a senior player.

Kelly played during the years under Roy Hodgson, where he racked up most of his appearances for the squad.

He played with the likes of Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard during his career, which may not have been overly successful, but he still made an impact in cup games.

However, his career was derailed because of multiple injuries, including to his ACL, with a final knee injury in his most recent loan to Wigan Athletic, all but ending his time on the pitch.

The player, though, has looked fondly back on his time coming up through the ranks as a young right-back and finding his way into the first team.

What he remembers most about his time is being around the acclaimed striker Suarez, who was one of the best to grace the forward line in his short time with Liverpool.
