Virgil van Dijk is one of the main reasons behind Liverpool’s success over the last few years.

When speaking to his opponents, most of them will say that the Dutchman is one of the toughest defenders they’ve ever faced.

His commanding presence, coupled with his exceptional defensive awareness, are just two of the things that make him as good as he is.

Without him among their ranks, it’s unclear where Liverpool would be at the moment, but one thing is for sure: he’ll be a massive miss when he does eventually choose to exit Anfield.

Although it may have taken him a while to get his big move, the Dutchman has proven that he was worth every single penny of the £70million that Liverpool chose to spend on him.

He completely transformed the Reds’ defensive line and, no matter who he’s partnered with, he always makes them better.
