Monchi has clarified what his advisory role will entail at Aston Villa and says the owners are focused on their investment in the club.

Monchi left his position as the club's president of football operations last month but will continue working as an advisor for the club's holding company, V Sports.

And he revealed that part of V Sports' plan is to form an Aston Villa group, similar to the City Group who own Manchester City and other clubs.

"It’s a much more secondary role,” said Monchi of his advisory position in an interview with El Desmarque.

“I don’t know if you know. The owners of Aston Villa are a company called V Sports, which is made up of three people.

"Before, there were two, now there are three: Nassef Sawiris, Wes Edens, and Michael Angelakis.
