Last night, as everyone knows, the Celtic board sat down with the fans for a meeting which ran for the best part of two and a half hours.

What did it deliver?

Nothing of substance. Nothing that suggested contrition, self-awareness or even basic accountability. It was exactly what we’ve come to expect from these people: contempt, stonewalling and a refusal to admit even the most obvious failures.

Forget that ridiculous statement they released earlier. That’s classic obfuscation.

That come have come out of Soviet Russia, where they had two main newspapers; one called Izvestia, meaning News, and the other called Pravda, meaning Truth.

Their citizens used to say that “there is no News in the Truth and there is no Truth in the News.”

From the start, this was always going to be a test of whether the club could engage honestly with its support. Instead, it confirmed everything we already knew. Worse still, it demonstrated that they are committed to continuing down the same road unless they are actually forced to change direction. That should alarm every one of us.
