Bayern Munich have held initial talks over a 2026 move for Marc Guehi, threatening to beat Liverpool to the defender they narrowly missed out on in the summer.

A deal was on the verge of completion to take Guehi to Anfield on transfer deadline day, but as Crystal Palace had not signed a replacement, they pulled the plug on the move.

Guehi has acted impeccably throughout Liverpool’s pursuit of him and after the failed move, continuing to play and perform well for the Eagles and England.

The centre-back is now into the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, so it appears likely he will now depart on a free transfer next summer, or the Eagles will cash in as much as they can in January.

There will be no shortage of suitors for the 25-year-old, with Liverpool likelyto still be keen on his signature, but just because they came so close in September, doesn’t mean they will get their man next year.
