Former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has revealed his reasons for leaving Anfield. Quansah was among the notable departures sanctioned by the Reds following their Premier League success last season, moving to Bayer Leverkusen in a £35million deal, and he acknowledges that seeking consistent playing time influenced his choice.

Quansah featured in Arne Slot's opening Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town in August 2024, but was withdrawn at the interval and struggled to oust Ibrahima Konate throughout the term. He managed to complete the 90 minutes in just three of Liverpool's 38 league encounters, with two of those appearances coming after they had already secured the title, having failed to persuade Slot of his abilities.

With a World Cup approaching next summer, a transfer appeared essential if he hoped to stake a claim for Thomas Tuchel's squad heading to the USA, Canada and Mexico.
