West Ham United’s season has not gone to plan but it has not stopped a number of stars from emerging. As the Hammers push for survival this season, the vultures are circling with some players more than showing their worth in the Premier League.

One name that is on everyone’s lips, is Mateus Fernandes. The now-Portugal international joined West Ham in the summer from Southampton and has gone on to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

With the Hammers position in the top flight in jeopardy, clubs are already looking into making a move for the 21-year-old. Manchester United are a vested party, with the likes of Casemiro leaving Old Trafford this summer.

According to Football Insider, United‘s cross-city rivals, Manchester City have now joined the race. Pep Guardiola’s team are planning a summer rebuild whether or not they win more trophies, and Fernandes is one name they believe can be key to keeping the team winning.
