Tottenham’s Ashley Phillips could return to Hotspur Way in the summer after having won a prestigious award for his consistent displays out on loan in the Championship.

Spurs academy youngsters are continuing to impress on loan in the EFL, and some of them will hope that they can push for a first-team spot at Tottenham on their return.

While Luka Vuskovic may be dominating the headlines with his impressive displays at Hamburg, another Tottenham defender has also quietly come into his own this season.

Ashley Phillips’ consistent displays at the back have now been recognised by the EFL, with the Spurs man up for a major individual prize.

Ashley Phillips’ leadership qualities have come to the fore this season in what is his second consecutive term on loan at Stoke City.

The 20-year-old has been a vital cog in the Potters’ backline, and his solid displays at the back have even seen the Tottenham man being contacted about changing his national allegiance to Wales.

The EFL have now confirmed on their official website that Phillips has been nominated for the prestigious EFL Championship Young Player of the Season.
