Matildas captain Sam Kerr has cast fresh doubt over her future at Chelsea after reports emerged she is set to join NWSL expansion side Denver Summit FC.

The 32-year-old striker is out of contract at the end of the season and has been heavily linked with a return to the United States, where she previously dominated as one of the league's biggest stars.

But Kerr appeared to push back on the speculation in a cryptic social media post, writing: 'Don't believe everything you read in the media man, they know a decision before me'.

It remains unclear whether Kerr was denying the reports outright or expressing frustration at the timing of the leak.

The transfer speculation intensified just hours after Chelsea were knocked out of the Women's Champions League, falling 3-2 on aggregate to Arsenal in a quarter-final defeat that has deepened scrutiny on the club's season.

Kerr has spent six seasons at Chelsea, scoring 106 goals in 147 appearances and helping deliver five Women's Super League titles and three FA Cups.
