Wolves are covering €400,000 a month in wages for Angel Gomes during his loan deal at Molineux.

L’Equipe report on the arrangement today as they reveal the annual wages in Ligue 1 for each club. As part of that, Wolves’ payments to Marseille for Gomes have come to light.

The newspaper explains that Marseille currently have the second highest wage bill in Ligue 1 behind Paris Saint-Germain. AS Monaco’s lack of taxes slightly skews that figure.

Big spending Marseille

Either way, Marseille are big spenders in that department, with the current spend the biggest in their history.

That is because some players, signed on free transfers, were offered huge sums to move to Marseille in the first place.

The average gross monthly salary in the squad is now around the €300,000 mark, with Pierre Emile Hojbjerg topping the charts at €500,000.

Gomes, a free transfer from Lille, is also among the top earners. He’s on €400,000 a month, almost triple what he was on previously. He was rewarded for being a free agent.
