A positive update has emerged on Mathys Tel’s injury after the Tottenham forward pulled out of the France Under-21 squad, easing fears over his availability.

Only a few players can hold their heads high in this Tottenham Hotspur squad during what has been a disastrous season.

With Spurs sitting just one point above the relegation zone and only seven games remaining, the players must take their share of responsibility for the club’s current situation.

One of the few bright sparks has been Mathys Tel. The French Under-21 international struggled for minutes under Thomas Frank, even revealing that disagreements over his role affected his game time.

However, Tel has been given more opportunities under Igor Tudor and has impressed on most occasions, even if those around him have not always matched his level.

There was concern during Tottenham’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest when Tel was forced off with what appeared to be an injury around his thigh and hip area.

Fortunately for Spurs, the early signs suggest the situation may not be as serious as first feared.
