An appointment to the end of the season doesn’t bode well, but puts us in a better position that the interim management arrangement we had in place last Saturday.  Welcome Pete Wild.

Across his career he has managed on a shoestring and been hampered by very tight budgets.  That might be the sort of manager we need. He has also managed at clubs that have a non-League feel to them, which makes me wonder if the appointment has one eye on the potential for relegation. He knows this division and the division below.

He is a young manager, at 41. However he brings experience at Oldham, Halifax, Barrow and Fleetwood. His most successful period was at FC Halifax where he achieved a win rate of just short of 47% (Given it’s so long it’s worth explaining that a ‘win’ is when a team beats the opposition). He moved on to Barrow and made them into play off contenders. His last managerial role, at Fleetwood, resulted in his dismissal in January this year, the team struggling with injuries and having sold key players.
