Motherwell and Hibernian fought out a scrappy goalless draw at Fir Park that keeps the hosts in pole position to seal a European slot in the Scottish Premiership.

The draw keeps Motherwell six points clear of nearest rivals Hibs in the table, with seven games left.

The home side went into this game after back-to-back defeats and very much looking to get back to winning ways, while their opponents had drawn their last two.

However, both sides largely cancelled each other out and Hibs captain Martin Boyle drew a blank in his 400th appearance.

Elijah Just had a goal chalked off for offside by VAR, but other than that there was very little to excite a bumper 9,371 crowd in the first half, with neither goalkeeper forced into a save of note.

The second half was livelier, but ran in much the same vein, with Motherwell dominating without causing too many issues, and Hibernian attacking when they could.

Home boss Jens Berthel Askou made two changes from the side that lost 3-1 at Celtic, with Emmanuel Longelo suspended. His place was taken by Stephen Welsh, while Oscar Priestman came in for benched Ibrahim Said.
