Nuno Espírito Santo is beginning to demonstrate not only how good a manager he could be for West Ham United, but also just how poor Graham Potter’s tenure really was.

Much was made of Nuno’s win percentage during his opening games as Hammers boss, which compared unfavourably with Potter’s. At the time, it looked grim because Potter is statistically as the worst full-time manager in West Ham’s history. Not a good look on Nuno.

Slowly but surely, however, Espírito Santo has begun to reshape the club. He has brought in players, added to his backroom staff and quietly moved on a few bad apples.

The transformation in the team has been stark — not just tactically, but also in terms of man management and team selection.

Earlier in his tenure, Nuno appeared to be searching for solutions, experimenting with players such as Andy Irving in midfield and Ollie Scarles at right-back during matches against Brentford and Leeds United.
