Keith Hackett wants to see the handball rule changed after Rangers conceded a late penalty against Celtic.

Rangers’ title hopes suffered a blow at Ibrox, with Celtic coming from 2-0 down to secure a point, courtesy of a late penalty.

Dujon Sterling, completely unbeknownst to him, deflected a goal-bound header off his arm, with Reo Hatate scoring as a result of the penalty.

After several incidents in the Premier League over the weekend, Alan Shearer called for the handball rule to focus on deliberate actions only, and Hackett agrees after what he witnessed in the latest Old Firm.

Whether it was harsh or not, the penalty was awarded, and that directly caused the Light Blues to drop two points in a crucial stage of the season.

Sterling could have done nothing about it, but with the header looking as though it was on target, referee John Beaton had no choice but to award the penalty after being instructed to check the incident by VAR.
