Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist were left impressed with Rangers striker Youssef Chermiti’s performance against Hearts.

Chermiti scored a hat-trick for Rangers and that saw them beat the league leaders 4-2 at Ibrox.

The former Everton forward was previously slammed for his dismal performance in the 1-1 draw against Motherwell in midweek.

Stelling admits that a number of Gers fans believed that Chermiti would not be a regular source of goals ahead of the Hearts game.

The 21-year-old striker had scored four times in his last 28 appearances, and he was on the back of a poor performance in the league.

However, he managed to deliver when Danny Rohl needed him to, and that is something that impressed the talkSPORT host.

Stelling said: “I would argue that Chermiti got the hat-trick at the weekend, but before that, he had scored four in 28 for Rangers. He hadn’t scored for Everton.

“There’s a suggestion that the hat-trick might be a flash in the pan and he may not be the regular goal scorer they need in the weeks to come.

“I know before that game, plenty of Rangers fans were thinking just that.”
