A midfielder whom Tottenham Hotspur explored a move for in January is now assessing his options ahead of a big decision on his future.

Spurs strengthened their midfield through the addition of Conor Gallagher in January, but he was not the only midfielder they showed interest in during the window.

It was revealed that Tottenham had explored a move for a Liverpool man, who has started 10 of Liverpool’s 25 league games this season.

The player in question is Curtis Jones, who was allegedly considering leaving Anfield in search of regular game time in January, and there is now a fresh update over the midfielder’s future.

TEAMtalk have now asserted that Tottenham Hotspur did hold conversations with the 25-year-old before ultimately deciding to push ahead with a move for Gallagher last month.

The outlet explains that Jones is seen as ‘an important member’ of Arne Slot’s squad, which is why he was not let go in January.

The midfielder has 16 months left on his contract and has been discussing a new deal with his boyhood club, but those talks have now stalled.
