There are things you read that feel so surreal that you start to wonder about the times we’re living in. When Celtic fan sites feel the need to urge patience with a new signing after just 45 minutes of football, in the only game the club has played since he arrived, you find yourself wanting to bang your head against a brick wall.

What better example could there be of the current climate than the fact that this even needs to be said?

At the same time, a section of our support now shows the same intolerance you see elsewhere across the city. Over the past few seasons, I’ve watched that intolerance turn on fellow Celtic fans. I’ve seen it directed at managers. I’ve seen it aimed at players.

Because of that, when some people mistake this kind of impatience for the legitimate anger many of us feel towards the board, I understand how the confusion happens.
