FORMER Celtic goal hero Chris Sutton believes Danny Ruhl’s Ibrox side got what they DESERVED when they dropped two points in the 1-1 stalemate at Fir Park in midweek.

In an incredible few seesawing minutes in the Premiership title race, the Govan club were denied victory when on-loan Celt Stephen Welsh grabbed Motherwell’s equaliser in the 88th minute.

At Parkhead, the champions were on the brink of having to accept a dismal draw against rock-bottom Livingston until new Bhoy Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain curled in the winner in the first minute of stoppage-time.

Well, who had been on the front foot for most of the encounter – even after Lukas Fadinger’s VAR-assisted red card in the 78th minute – were forcing play with Sutton accusing the Ibrox men of attempting to run down the clock.

The former Hoops striker, posting on X, said: “Without stirring, after Rangers’ time-wasting tactics some may say they got what they deserved.”

Sutton added: “What a mental title race in Scotland. Celtic 1-1 with bottom team Livi going into injury time Rangers one-up at 10 man Motherwell.

“Oxlade-Chamberlain scores the winner on debut and Stephen Welsh on loan from Celtic scores the equaliser for Motherwell… crazy.”
