Unai Emery has urged the Villa Park crowd to be the 12th man as Aston Villa look to start a new winning run at home.

Villa’s next three matches, over the course of 10 days, are all in B6, with an FA Cup third-round clash against Newcastle United sandwiched between crucial league fixtures against Brighton and Leeds United.

Emery’s side host Brighton on the back of a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth, but have lost their last two home league matches - against Everton and Brentford - both by a goal to nil.

There has been some discussion about the atmosphere inside Villa Park in recent weeks, with some claiming that expectancy has crept in.

Ollie Watkins, for one, questioned why some supporters were leaving early in the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest in early January.

“I expect they will help us a lot. They should be involved with us,” Emery said about the Villa Park crowd.
