What a week the last one was for the chairman of our club. What a week for Celtic. It was not a good one. In fact, it was dreadful from start to finish. Brian Wilson … dear God. Where do you even start, except at the beginning?
The transfer window was a mess. He later claimed it had kept him too busy to meet supporters throughout January. That explanation fell apart quickly, because almost all of the club’s business was completed on the final day, which made you wonder what he’d spent the rest of the month working on.
He also claimed that fan groups had been invited to Celtic Park.
In reality, the invitations went out only after the interview had been recorded.
He spoke about unity, yet reached out only to selected groups who he believes can be separated from the wider supporter movement. Then came the familiar story about meeting a handful of young fans who shared their views with him; a classic example of what they call the “I Met A Guy” speech, but handled so badly that I laughed out loud when I was listening to it.
