Francesco Calvo has put a figure on Aston Villa’s grand Villa Park vision.

While Unai Emery has totally transformed Villa on the pitch, turning them into contenders in the Premier League and in Europe, owners NSWE are committed to doing exactly the same off it, with ambitious plans for an expansion of the stadium’s North Stand.

Other stadium upgrades have been carried out and a new fan zone called ‘The Warehouse’ outside the stadium has been created - and, speaking at the Spobis Conference in Hamburg, Calvo said the plans for Villa Park’s future will end up costing owners NSWE around £170m.

"For me, Villa Park is the essence of English football,” he said. "It's an old-fashioned, red-brick stadium, probably the largest of its kind."

"We have invested almost £50 million in the development of the entire hospitality area," he continued, adding "around £20 million" for 'The Warehouse' and "around £100 million to build a new stand and extend the North Stand."
