Leicester City have completed the signing of experienced centre-back Jamaal Lascelles from Newcastle.

The 32-year-old centre-back joins in a permanent deal on a short-term contract to the end of the season, and should be the first of three arrivals the day after deadline day.

He arrives at the King Power Stadium to strengthen a City defence that has failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their past 24 Championship fixtures, but is also now running low on options.

With Wout Faes leaving on loan for Monaco earlier in the window, with Jannik Vestergaard joining Harry Souttar on the injury list, and with Caleb Okoli suspended for this weekend’s trip to Birmingham, City were down to Ben Nelson and teenage full-back Bade Aluko as their likely centre-half pairing.
