AFC Bournemouth could hand new signing Rayan Vitor an immediate Premier League start when they travel to Wolves this weekend.

The 19-year-old only arrived on the South Coast earlier this week but has already been training with Andoni Iraola’s squad.

Speaking ahead of the trip to Molineux, the Bournemouth boss admitted the Brazilian is firmly in contention to feature from the outset.

Rayan joined Bournemouth from Vasco da Gama for a fee of £25 million and arrives with significant expectation.

Despite his age, Iraola made it clear that the forward is physically ready to be involved straight away.

“He’s ready for tomorrow, he will be a good help,” Iraola said.

Asked if the teenager could come straight into the starting XI, he added: “I think he could start, it’s a decision I have to make, but we also have to be careful with him.”

That balance between readiness and protection has shaped Iraola’s messaging throughout the week.
