Pressure is mounting on Thomas Frank but if Tottenham were hoping Xabi Alonso would be the one to step in and save them, they may have to think again.

Spurs are still without a league win in 2026 as we head for the end of January, and it sounds like Thomas Frank has exhausted all patience among the fans.

Whether the board are ready to call time on his tenure or not is another matter. However, Fabrizio Romano did say Frank is very much at risk of losing his job now.

A number of names have been mooted as potential replacements for Frank, but we now know a bit more about the likelihood of Xabi Alonso being the next Spurs boss.

Thanks to Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe, we are led to believe that the club has indeed sounded out Alonso as a candidate for the job if and when Frank moves on. However, the Spaniard may be reluctant to take the job.

O’Keefe claims Tottenham have inquired “through intermediaries to see if there would be any interest” on Alonso’s side for becoming the next Tottenham manager.
