NEWCASTLE UNITED defender Charlie McArthur has joined Scottish Championship side Airdrie on loan for the remainder of the season.

The Scottish centre-half joined the Magpies from hometown club Kilmarnock in 2022 and made ten appearances in League Two last season while on loan at Carlisle United.

The 20-year-old made his senior debut for Kilmarnock at the age of just 16 in October 2021 during a Scottish Challenge Cup last-16 win against Queen's Park.

He made a further three senior appearances during the 2021-22 season , including his league bow during a 1 -1 draw with Raith Rovers.

He will now join Aaron Taylor-Sinclair ’s Airdrie side ahead of tomorrow's Scottish Championship clash with Ross County at The Albert Bartlett Stadium.
