Tottenham suffered an embarrassing defeat to arch-rivals and relegation contenders West Ham in the Premier League this weekend. The Lilywhites were far from their best and were comprehensively outplayed by the Hammers. However, one player who provided a rare glimmer of hope in the final third was Mathys Tel. The talented attacker was constantly trying to make things happen before being substituted by Thomas Frank around the hour mark.

Frank’s handling of the Frenchman has been disappointing, especially considering he was the driving force behind Tel’s permanent signing in the summer. The 20-year-old has rarely been handed starts for the Lilywhites this season and has largely been limited to an ‘impact substitute’ role. A lack of regular game time is one of the main reasons why the former Bayern Munich attacker is now pushing for an early exit from the North London club.
