Celtic’s January transfer window has been active but cautious so far, with the manager and the board under growing pressure to deliver reinforcements. To date, the club’s only confirmed arrival this month is Julian Araujo on loan, strengthening the right-back position as the Hoops look to improve defensively.

Veteran centre-back Stephen Welsh has also returned from his loan spell at Motherwell, adding depth to the first-team squad. Beyond that, however, the wider transfer picture remains unsettled.

There is plenty of talk, as usual, and very little action. Celtic are still searching for key additions across several areas: defence, central midfield, attacking positions and, most importantly, a striker. The manager has publicly stated that he is “very, very hopeful” new players will arrive before the window closes on 2 February, but hope alone is no longer enough for supporters. Besides, we have big games between now and that deadline, including Hearts at the weekend.

Rumours continue to circulate. Celtic have been linked with West Ham striker Callum Wilson, various Championship options, and other forwards who could offer more goal-scoring threat. Defensively, the club are reportedly monitoring centre-back targets, including links to a tall Austrian defender.
