The Cherries take a break from Premier League action to play the second of their cup competitions this season, the last time was back in August when Brentford beat us in the League Cup. Our club travel up to the North East to play Newcastle United in the FA Cup 3rd Round on Saturday at 3 pm.

The Cherries have met Newcastle United twice in the FA Cup. The first game was on 30th January 1973 and it was away up in the North East, it ended in a 2-0 defeat. The second time we met was on the 4th January 1992 and the game was at Dean Court, which ended 0-0. The replay was 18 days later, up in Newcastle. It should have been a week earlier, but the game was abandoned due to fog. The replayed game ended 2-2, but the Cherries won 4-3 on penalties.
