Roy Keane has revealed his first-choice pick to replace Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

United are looking for both a short and long-term replacement for Amorim after he lost his job on Monday morning.

Amorim spent 14 months in the Old Trafford hot-seat and was dismissed following a fall-out with his bosses at the club, most notably director of football Jason Wilcox.

While his spat with the United hierarchy was relatively fresh, Amorim has been fighting to save his job for well over a year following a largely dismal spell in charge.

Darren Fletcher oversaw Wednesday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Burnley as interim manager and will continue in that role for Sunday’s FA Cup clash against Brighton.

Manchester United are expected to appoint a caretaker boss until the end of the season with Fletcher, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick in the running for the role.

Amorim’s permanent replacement will then be appointed in the summer and Keane has urged his former club to poach Eddie Howe from Newcastle United.
