Rangers' Fan Advisory Board (FAB) has launched a scathing attack on Scottish refereeing and called for an independent review.

The call comes after a series of "perplexing" decisions, most recently in the League Cup semi-final.

The FAB criticise the lack of action against Auston Trusty, who they believe should have been sent off for a boot to Jack Butland's head.

The board is still waiting for an apology from the Scottish FA, and do not expect it to be forthcoming.

They also expect no apology, as they are still awaiting one from last season's League Cup final against Celtic.

The Rangers FAB stated: "The time for apologies has long since come and gone.

"Only a fully independent review of the standards, structures, and performance at all levels of the SFA’s refereeing department can repair the damage caused—if it isn’t already irreparable—by too many woeful on-field decisions."

The Rangers fans believe that the current refereeing standards are inadequate and that a group of VAR officials are "no longer fit for purpose."
