Tottenham Hotspur failed to win at home for the fourth successive game in a row in the Premier League after they fell 1-0 to bitter London rivals Chelsea on Saturday evening.
Joao Pedro’s first-half strike eventually became the difference between the sides, denying Spurs a chance to go second in the table. Instead, they dropped to fifth after Manchester City and Liverpool won their respective games at the weekend.
Xavi Simons hit a new low when he was brought on and later substituted by Thomas Frank during Tottenham’s narrow defeat to Chelsea. The creative midfielder began the game on the bench but was introduced as a concussion substitute, after Lucas Bergvall sustained a head injury in the opening minutes. The 22-year-old’s ineffective display saw him last until the 73rd minute before he was replaced by Wilson Odobert.
