Newcastle United star Jacob Murphy has insisted there is no panic in the Toon dressing room after the Magpies' alarming 3-1 defeat at the hands of crisis club West Ham.

The forward netted the opener at the London Stadium, but his team-mates could not build on it, and while West Ham deserved credit for their battling spirit, Newcastle created 12 goal attempts and had 62% possession in the capital.

Wasted chances were certainly a factor for the Magpies who now move on to the Champions League and a clash with Athletic Bilbao.

After the game Murphy emerged as one of the dressing room leaders to give his take on things and admitted it was a 'bad day' from too many Newcastle players.

He said: "That was a bad day at the office. Collectively, we know we weren't good enough.
