Arsenal signed Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for €65m in July.
Earlier this month, the Spain international explained he was determined to join Arsenal despite having other options last summer.
The decision to join Arsenal has clearly paid off for the midfielder as he’s a key part of Mikel Arteta’s squad. Zubimendi has already played over 1,000 minutes from 12 matches for the north London club.
Mundo Deportivo have a report on the ‘great controversy’ generated from the 26-year-old’s transfer from La Real to Arsenal.
The La Liga club signed him for their academy from another Spanish side, Antiguoko, in 2011. They had initially sent him back on loan for two years to their academy.
Zubimendi climbed through the ranks and made his first team debut for Real Sociedad in 2019. He spent six years with them before joining Arsenal.
Mundo now report Antiguoko are claiming €1m from his transfer to the Emirates. They have also relayed comments from their technical director, Roberto Montiel, who didn’t hold back about feelings clear towards Real Sociedad.
