Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber and Manchester United’s Mathijs de Ligt will be watching Virgil van Dijk’s form for Liverpool with interest.

That’s according to journalist Henk Spaan, via Soccer News, who believes the Liverpool captain may need to watch his back.

While Liverpool are currently in the middle of a disastrous run of form which has seen them lose six of their last seven games in all competitions, Arsenal and Manchester United are flying.

Arsenal are in excellent form, having won all six of their matches across October without conceding a goal. Manchester United have also won their last three in the Premier League to get back on track.

Timber and De Ligt are established stars in both teams, although that is not the case for the Netherlands. While Timber played the full 90 minutes in both of the Netherland’s World Cup qualifiers, the Manchester United man was dropped from the squad entirely. He’s seeming fallen down the pecking order under Ronald Koeman.

That could change in future, though. Van Dijk has found himself being criticised during Liverpool’s current run. And Spaan believes the Arsenal and United stars will be eyeing his place.
