Liam Delap was sent off on his return to action as Chelsea saw off Wolves in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Delap, who made his first appearance since August 30, was brought on with half an hour of normal time to go but picked up two yellow cards in quick succession as the Blues’ poor disciplinary record continued. There has been a red card in six of Chelsea’s last nine games in all competitions, and Delap is now suspended for the trip to Tottenham on Saturday.

Goals from Andrey Santos and Tyrique George early on put the Blues two to the good before Estevao Willian had Chelsea cruising at the half-time break. However, a fightback from Wolves in the second-half, courtesy of goals from Tolu Arokodare and David Moller Wolfe, meant there were some late nerves from a Chelsea perspective.
