Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has called for a big rule change in the latter stages of the Carabao Cup in order to encourage more upsets.

Tottenham travel to Newcastle United this evening for a big Carabao Cup clash, with the winner earning a place in the quarterfinal of the competition.

The draw for the quarterfinal of the Carabao Cup will be held immediately after the clash at St James’ Park, and Spurs fans will be desperately hoping that the Lilywhites find themselves in the draw.

However, their head coach wants to see one big change in the format of the competition when it gets into the final four.

Unlike the FA Cup semifinals, which are one-off games played at Wembley, the Carabao Cup involves a two-legged semifinal.

Frank believes that the rule benefits the bigger sides and serves as a disadvantage to the smaller teams. He suggested that making it a single semifinal will increase the chances of getting new winners.
