Eddie Howe admits that there was always going to be to be "a doubt" over his team selection after making EIGHT changes to the team that beat Fulham at the weekend.

However, as Newcastle breezed past Tottenham Hotspur to set up a home tie with the Cottagers, nobody could argue that Howe had got his team right after an easy 2-0 win. The Magpies needed a goal in each half to do it as Fabian Schar and Nick Woltemade booked a place in the last eight.

Speaking after the home victory, Howe said: "It was really pleasing, it was a testament to the attitude of the players. We didn't have it all our own way but it was mainly very positive.

"I made a number of changes and there is always a slight doubt how that team will play together.

"But from minute one I thought we looked in a really good place.
