EDDIE Howe believes Will Osula is starting to look like the complete package for Newcastle United, and has told of his relief at not losing the striker on deadline day.

Osula was close to leaving Newcastle in a £30m move to Frankfurt in the final hours of the summer window before the deal collapsed.

Howe has now revealed that Newcastle's preference in the summer was always a loan move for Osula, with United's head coach insisting he always felt the youngster could still make a huge success of his time at St James' Park.

Osula only played 124 Premier League minutes across his entire first campaign at the club after joining from Sheffield United last summer. He didn't make a single Premier League start last season.

But so far this season he's featured in every Premier League game, even if he's been limited to just one start, and he made a match-winning impact against Fulham on Saturday, hitting the shot that was turned in by Bruno Guimaraes on the rebound in the 90th minute.
