Tributes have been paid to 'incredible bloke' Bob Richardson, a lifelong Newcastle fan who died at St. James' Park before this week's Champions League tie against Benfica.

Bob's family took to social media to share the news that he had sadly died following a medical emergency at the ground as Newcastle took on José Mourinho's side.

A season ticket holder for more than 50 years, Bob was in attendance at Wembley in March as Eddie Howe's side lifted their first domestic trophy in 70 years after winning the Carabao Cup.

Grandson Alex Richardson posted on X after thousands of people had wished the family well following the sad news.

"Overwhelmed with the messages on this," he said.

"We’ll miss you more than words can describe. An incredible bloke."

Alex shared pictures of him and his grandfather Bob, including a snap taken at Wembley on that historic day which saw the club beat Liverpool 2-1.
