When Benjamin Sesko turned down a move to Newcastle United in the summer, it was the latest in a series of transfer blows which threatened to derail their plans during the window.

The Slovenian striker opted to sign for Manchester United despite the Magpies having an offer accepted by RB Leipzig, and Newcastle had to go back to the drawing board in their search for a replacement for Alexander Isak.

That, of course, led to a club record £69m deal for Nick Woltemade, with the German striker arriving from Stuttgart as a relatively unknown forward.

However two months on, it is the 23-year-old who is enjoying Premier League success with Newcastle, while Sesko has struggled for goals and gametime at Old Trafford.

Woltemade already has five goals in black-and-white and has shown an excellent link-up abilities to offer Newcastle a new range of attacking options.
