Manchester United moved up to fourth in the Premier League table with a 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Matheus Cunha and Casemiro struck in the first half to set the tone, before Bryan Mbeumo added a third just after the hour mark.

Brighton showed great fight, pulling two goals back through Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas to set up a nervy finish.

United held their nerve, with Mbeumo scoring his second goal of the evening to seal a crucial home victory.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was full of praise for two Man United stars after the game.

He said: “With Cunha and Mbeumo, the risk of those signings was removed because in the sense they had played in the Premier League before and they had the hunger to deliver at a different level.

“Mbeumo looks like he belongs. He looks hungry and that he wants to score goals.

“Cunha and Mbeumo will win a lot of matches for Manchester United.”

Cunha finally added his name to the scoresheet in a United shirt.

It was another display full of courage and flair, something this United squad was lacking.
