Gary Lineker warned Liverpool about Alexander Isak's injury record before they shattered the British transfer record. The 26-year-old striker, who joined the Reds from Newcastle United for £125m in the summer, suffered a groin problem in Wednesday evening's 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

During an appearance on the Rest is Football podcast last year, Lineker flagged Isak's fitness concern as a possible deterrent for potential suitors. The former Match of the Day host said: "17 goals in 24 Premier League appearances. I mean, the only question mark against him is that he has missed a few games."

Despite Lineker's concerns, Liverpool quickly secured the deal – and it seems they may now be facing the consequences. Isak was withdrawn at the break against the Bundesliga outfit, bringing an end to yet another disappointing performance for Arne Slot's side.
