According to the latest report from GiveMeSport — who appear to share sources with Sky Sports — West Ham have identified three transfer targets.

The names have reportedly been passed to the club’s hierarchy by manager Nuno Espírito Santo, who is believed to have informed David Sullivan that he wants a box-to-box midfielder.

Of course, this is nothing new, considering Claret & Hugh reported precisely the same thing last season when Julen Lopetegui instructed the Hammers’ owner to do exactly that.

Better late than never, I suppose — but according to the latest reports, it seems the penny has finally dropped: West Ham need some legs in midfield.

Chelsea’s Andrey Santos has been mentioned, though nobody has provided a convincing reason why he’d swap a European campaign for a relegation scrap.

Another name on the list is Kobbie Mainoo, who seems a far more realistic target. The England midfielder is said to be unfancied by Manchester United boss Rúben Amorim and is reportedly desperate for guaranteed starts.
