Ruben Amorim’s reasoning for constantly overlooking Joshua Zirzkzee this season has been revealed, with the Manchester United forward struggling for minutes.

Zirkzee’s playing time woes persist

Despite a positive conclusion to the 2024/25 campaign, Zirkzee has yet to establish himself as a regular starter this season.

He has yet to start a game this term, with all four of his appearances across the Premier League and EFL Cup coming from the bench.

Zirkzee has amassed the third-fewest minutes of any United player this season. Only Ayden Heaven and Tyler Fredricson have seen less action than the former Bologna man.

To put Zirkzee’s struggles into context, Andre Onana – who departed United to join Trabzonspor on loan last month – has more minutes for United under his belt.

Unsurprisingly, the Netherlands international is dissatisfied with his situation and is believed to be open to a January exit. There has been no shortage of suitors in Zirkzee.
