Newcastle United's pursuit of a striker this summer now feels a long way away, given Nick Woltemade's impressive start to life at St. James' Park. The German forward completed a move to the North East for an initial fee of £65million, potentially rising to £69million in add-ons.

In the Premier League, Woltemade has scored four goals in five games and added another to his tally in the Champions League clash with Union Saint-Gilloise. So far, so good for 'Woltemessi.'

The German international, along with Yoane Wissa, was signed to replace the outgoing Alexander Isak. Isak has struggled since his move to Liverpool, which is no real surprise given the manner of his summer departure and pre-season absence.

On paper, Woltemade had big boots to fill, and while he's not the finished article, there are encouraging signs from the former Stuttgart man.

The snide remarks from transfer chiefs at a certain German club have fallen silent, while the black-and-white faithful rightfully get excited about what else is to come from Woltemade.
