Former Newcastle United and Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has been advised to call time on his managerial career following his departure from Blackpool.

The ex-Manchester United defender parted company with the League One Seasiders earlier this month, the 12th club of his time as a manager.

Now 64, Corbridge-born Bruce enjoyed success with Hull City in a long managerial career that not only took in the two North East rivals, but also the likes of Aston Villa, Sheffield United, West Brom and Crystal Palace.

However, Tony Pulis, himself a hugely experienced manager, feels the Blackpool job should be his last as a head coach, and has urged Bruce to walk away from life in the dugout and enjoy time with his family.

“Steve Bruce has nothing left to prove in football so I’d like to see him go and enjoy his free time," Pulis told Grosvenor Casino.
